Keynote Speaker

Aniela Korzeniowska is Professor in Translation Studies and Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics. Over the years, her teaching and research have mainly centred around issues concerning the theory and practice of translation, both from a historical and contemporary perspective. To date she has supervised 120 MA dissertations and at present also conducts a PhD seminar in this field of studies. She is also a professional translator, specialising in the translation of Polish academic texts into English.

Her second field of interest is Scotland’s languages and literature, which has resulted in a correspondence with and overlapping of Scottish Studies with the above Translation Studies. This has found its own characteristic reflection in her teaching and a great deal of her most recent publications.
